ASHWAA had existed long before it was incorporated. It had been a vision in Uday's mind since he was 17. He wanted to engineer, purely and deeply. Sumalini wanted to build something where the team could create something new every day. ASHWAA became the place where those two things came together.
Sumalini Jyothi leads ASHWAA Engineering with a focus on building a technically strong, execution-driven automation company that customers can rely on from the first discussion through project delivery. With a background spanning aerospace engineering, quality, project management and business, she brings a multidisciplinary approach to how ASHWAA evaluates opportunities, manages projects and builds long-term customer relationships. Her experience across aerospace, automotive, medical and manufacturing environments has shaped a strong emphasis on quality, structured execution, risk management and clear customer communication. At ASHWAA, Sumalini focuses on business strategy, project governance, quality systems, customer engagement and organisational growth — ensuring that strong engineering is supported by equally strong processes and accountability.

Uday Kishore Chennuru leads the engineering and operational backbone of ASHWAA Engineering. His approach to automation begins with understanding the process — not simply selecting a robot, machine or technology. From concept development and cycle-time analysis to mechanical design, controls, integration and commissioning, Uday works closely with the engineering team to develop systems that are practical to manufacture, maintain and operate on the shop floor. His engineering philosophy has helped shape ASHWAA's approach to projects: question assumptions, simplify where possible, design around the complete application and take responsibility for how the system performs after installation. At ASHWAA, Uday oversees engineering execution, technical decision-making, project delivery and operations, helping turn complex manufacturing requirements into robust, production-ready automation systems.

Uday and I were sitting behind a desk, working on our personal laptops. Back in India, we had two people handling administration. Uday and I were the only engineers, and we were still in the process of buying our first SolidWorks licence. No office. No engineering department. No workshop. Just a few people, a lot of passion for engineering, and one very big question: now that it's on paper, how do we take it forward?
Our first project came from a colleague and friend who believed in us before we had much to show. At the time it didn't feel like a business milestone. It felt like someone had given us a chance to prove ourselves. Then, slowly, ASHWAA started taking shape. Our first engineer joined in October 2020. We went from working out of an apartment to having an office of our own.
We started with R&D. Then engineering services. Then fabrication. And today, we are an automation integrator with a team of dedicated professionals. Four different versions of the same company in six years. Each time, the thing that had been working stopped being enough — and the team rose to meet what came next.

R&D & Formation
Company incorporated in 2020. Two founders, two personal laptops, a small admin team in India. First engineer joins in October. Working out of an apartment.
Engineering Services
ASHWAA establishes itself as an engineering services business. First office. Design, analysis and integration capability delivered to manufacturers across the region.
Fabrication Projects
Clients ask ASHWAA to take on more. The team builds fabrication capability and begins owning larger scopes — including work as a sub-supplier on a next-generation EV programme for one of the world's leading electric vehicle manufacturers.
